Bejeweled tones, a floral Pronovias bridal dress, and an intimate guest list make Hannah and Olly’s wedding day stand out.

How did Olly pop the question?

So I’d been moaning for ages that Olly he never takes me out for dinner, well he booked dinner for a Thursday night, didn’t tell me where we were going. We went to the Black Rat in Winchester – there was some champagne waiting for us and I just thought ‘ooh celebrating my promotion’. Didn’t think anything of it.

Before our mains arrived he started talking about how we have made a lovely life together and got a dog etc…. no idea what he said next as I burst into tears. Absolutely cried my eyes out in front of the whole restaurant. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a ‘getting down on one knee’ moment as they had put us in a corner so he couldn’t get out of his chair without asking me to move!

Tell us about your wedding venue…

We got married on 17th October 2020 at St Peters Church in Wrecclesham, Surrey. We chose this church as it’s the church Olly and his sister Hannah got christened in. We then had a reception in a pub local to Olly’s parents called the Rose and Crown in Upper Farringdon.

We had 15 of our closest family as guests due to the government guidelines.

What was your Colour Scheme?

The ties were a dark teal as we wanted an Autumnal feel to the wedding, but not the typical oranges. So we went for a more dark and moody color scheme.

Saying yes to the dress…

I purchased my dress in a small wedding boutique in Lichfield, near my parents, called Silk Bridalwear. The ladies there were amazing and made me feel so comfortable. I tried absolutely loads of dresses on as I had no idea what I wanted. In the end, I went for a very detailed, full of 3D flower, Pronovias dress.

How did you choose your shoes and accessories?

Shoes were the first thing I bought – even before the dress. I knew I wanted a simple shoe and I knew that as a surprise I was going to get the shoes dyed to match Olly’s tie. My veil was also purchased from Silk Bridal, this was done mid lockdown over facetime! The ladies were amazing and laid out my dress at my height and gave me the best they could given the situation. The first time I tried my dress and veil together was at my dress alteration fitting.

I bought my shoes from Rainbow Club Vivian –  as they had the exact style I wanted and the clasps to ‘bling’ up my shoes. They were also the only company I could find who would colour match Olly’s tie and dye my shoes – a match made in heaven! It was the best thing I ever did and didn’t hurt my feet one bit all-day

What was the best part of the day?

Finally marrying my best friend! After all of the ups and downs of ‘will we have a wedding, won’t we’ the best bit was to finally get married.

Do you have any advice for other brides to be?

If you are a lockdown bride and you are willing to compromise on a few things I absolutely say get married, you won’t regret it!

At the end of the day, a wedding is about 2 people committing themselves to each other – the party can wait. We are having a party in August next year (how many brides can say they got married in Autumn as well as Summer to the same person?!).

We found that a small intimate wedding was so personal and we had time to talk to everyone and share the day with them. Also, lean on family and friends for the support they only want the best for you both.

Oh, and one other thing, get your hair and makeup done by a professional! It isn’t something you should cut out to save costs – honestly, Claire Hayes made me feel amazing all morning and on your wedding day you want that! trust me! and looking at the photos it’s so worth it!
