IN OUR SHOES

BRYONY WEARS ‘HARPER’

For the first #InOurShoes of 2019, we take a look back to July last year for Bryony and Brodie’s wedding at the rustic Wedderburn Barns in Scotland. The theme saw a relaxed summer vibe with lots of natural wood and pastel colours.

How did they pop the big question?

We were staying in his mum’s holiday cottage on the West Coast of Scotland. It’s in a beautiful area called Portincaple and the cottage is situated right down at the edge of the Loch. We had been out for a walk in the snow and were settling in for the evening. We had just started cooking dinner when Brodie offered me a peanut from a packet of one of my favourite peanut snacks. I am a huge foodie and never turn down the offer of food so Brodie was very taken aback when I politely declined!

A short time later, he offered again. Once again, I turned him down. This was very out of character for me and so on the third attempt, he said, “well, if you won’t take a peanut, will you at least marry me?” and out from the packet, he pulled the ring! Unbeknown to me, he had hidden the ring inside the packet with the idea that I would pull it out myself!

When and where did you get married?

We got married on the 7th July 2018 at Wedderburn Barns, Duns.

Did you have a specific theme or colour scheme?

We wanted a relaxed summer vibe and so we kept the theme quite natural with lots of wood and pastel coloured flowers. We placed wooden crates filled with fresh flowers outside in the courtyard. There were also little pots and glass bottles filled with fresh rosemary and lavender. On the tables were wooden log centre pieces and glass jars decorated with hessian and ribbon, filled with flowers. The wooden beams were wrapped in fairy lights.

How did you feel when you said yes to the dress?

Everyone kept saying – ‘you’ll just know it’s the one when you try it on’. I really did get that feeling and I knew instantly that it was the dress! I had a little tear in my eye and so did my mum, which sealed the deal!

How did you choose your shoes?

I wanted something classic and simple to match my dress. As the wedding was in a barn setting, with outdoor areas, I ultimately wanted something comfortable that I would last all day in! My Rainbow Club shoes ticked all of those boxes!

Where did you buy your Rainbow Club shoes from?

I genuinely loved every single moment of the day but seeing all of our loved ones in the same place at the same time is pretty special – there is no feeling quite like it!

Do you have any advice for brides to be?

Enjoy every moment in the run up to the wedding and try not to worry too much about the little things; you will have the most amazing day, no matter what!
