For this week’s #InOurShoes blog, we talk to Julia and Andrew who tied the knot in the stunning Winton Castle in Pencaitland, Scotland. The ceremony saw lots of colour complimented with white flowers and duck-egg blue bridesmaid dresses.
How did they pop the big question?
It was our anniversary and he had secretly booked a boutique hotel in Sheffield. The night before I stayed with his parents and his mum accidentally spoilt the surprise by telling everyone about the hotel during dinner, she felt so bad about it that she ended up putting a tea towel on her head.
When and where did you get married?
Winton Castle in Pencaitland.
Did you have a specific theme or colour scheme?
No, we kept it pretty simple with white flowers and duck egg blue bridesmaid dresses, because there were lots of different coloured kilts.
How did you feel when you said yes to the dress?
Relieved, it was nice to finally find something that ticked all my boxes.
How did you choose your shoes?
I wanted something that looked pretty, but would be comfortable for wearing the whole day, these caught my eye immediately because of the lovely little heal and lace on the top. The solid heal meant my shoe didn’t sink into the grass!
Where did you buy your Rainbow Club shoes from?
John Lewis, Edinburgh
What was the most favourite and memorable part of the day?
The ceremony, it was so lovely having everyone there, the readings were so lovely, my friends had written a poem about the two of us which was so sweet.
Do you have any advice for brides to be?
Enjoy your day, it can be easy to be overwhelmed and think of it as a schedule where there is so much to do, try to have as many moments as possible to relax and enjoy.
