In Our Shoes

Lucy Wears Georgia

Ti amo, vuoi sposarmi? For our latest blog, Matt proposed to his partner Lucy in Venice before heading back to the Lake District for their ceremony and wedding. We adore their light floral theme and are holding out hope yet of being proposed to in Italian.

How did you and your partner meet?

Mutual friends introduced us.

Tell us all about your proposal – where, when and how?

We booked a trip around Italy and whilst in Venice, Matt planned a surprise date night. He took me to a rooftop restaurant overlooking Venice for a tasting menu cooked in front of us in an open kitchen. After finishing the meal he took me up to the view point to view the fireworks where he then proposed in Italian.

When and where did you get married?

We got married on the 7th of June in the Lake District. The ceremony was at ST Martins Church and the reception at The Low Wood Bay Hotel.

Did you have a specific theme or colour scheme?

We had a blush pink colour scheme and wanted theme to be floral with lots of glowy mood lighting.

How did you feel when you said yes to the dress?

Incredible – dress shopping was the part I was least looking forward too as I was so nervous but it is amazing how exciting the day feels. As soon as I tried on my dress I instantly knew that was ‘the one’ and I felt so happy.

How did you choose your shoes?

I had googled bridal shoes and came across a lot of blogs/sites where brides had had rainbow club shoes. I found my nearest stockist and went to look at their range.

Where did you buy your Rainbow Club shoes from?

John Lewis – Trafford Centre.

What was your most favourite and memorable part of the day?

Our most memorable is finishing our wedding breakfast and just having a few minutes to look around the room in and take in all the people we loved all in the same room who had came for us. It’s the most special feeling in the world.

Our favourite is everybody going on the boat we had after the wedding breakfast – despite the pouring rain everybody put on a poncho and had the most hilarious hour singing and dancing round Lake Windermere!

Do you have any advice for brides to be?

Cliché but do not stress. Don’t get hung up on minor stresses or strict timings, let the day flow and try to take in every moment as you do.
