How did Aaron pop the big question?

On a crisp October, Sunday morning in 2016, Aaron and I took part in our first 10km race – with a beautiful setting at Bisham Abbey in Henley. Having crossed the finish line I wondered why he was taking so long to “get his breath back” - as I was keen to collect our medals! He then took me to one side, near to the bank of the River Thames, and got down on one knee. Using a running analogy and equating a marriage to a marathon, he asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. He’d run the whole race with the beautiful ring in his pocket!

When and where did you get married?

2nd September 2017 at Dorton House in Buckinghamshire.

Did you have a specific theme or colour scheme?

How did you feel when you said yes to the dress?

I absolutely loved it! It felt perfect – and was what I had hoped it would be; having been to two other dress shops I had an idea of what I did and didn’t like, so when I found this stunning Justin Alexander dress online – and a stockist near by – I was thrilled!

How did you choose your shoes?

The first dress shop that I visited provided me with a pair of Rainbow Club shoes to wear when trying on the dresses. I just loved how comfortable they were as my feet didn’t ache at all afterwards, so I was sold on getting Rainbow Club ones! I then searched online to see what styles were available and felt drawn to Elspeth as I felt they went well with the style of my dress.

What was the most favourite and memorable part of the day?

The entire day was incredible; to have all of our friends and family together and to feel amazing is the best feeling… but my favourite part of the day was when I entered the church incredibly nervous, and seeing the look on Aaron’s face as he stood waiting for me…and to then say our vows to one another.

Do you have any advice for brides to be?

Enjoy every moment. The engagement, the preparations, and the day itself! Also it is normal for things to become stressful, so don’t worry yourself about it - just remember why you are getting married and make time for the two of you during the preparations too.

Congratulations to Zoe and Aaron and thank you for sharing your special day with us! x
