Our latest #InOurShoes blog is from the beautiful bride Nicky who tied the knot in her local village where she was waved off to the church by local residents!

Just wait until you see her adorable bridesmaids in their Nicki Macfarlane dresses with our ‘Abigail’ pumps which where dyed to match their sashes…

Nicky the Bride

How they met:

Paul and I met at a friend’s birthday drinks about two and a half years ago. It wasn’t quite love at first sight but it was close to it.

The Proposal:

Some people don’t think it’s a very romantic story but to me it was perfect. We were on the sofa in our PJ’s watching a film. Paul pipes up ‘So will you marry me then’ my response was ‘of course I will darling’ to which he slid off of the sofa on to one knee. I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be a ‘proper’ proposal but he had the ring in his pyjama pocket ready and waiting. It turns out he had asked my families permission nearly 2 months before!

The Venue:

We got married in our little village in West Kent on Saturday 24th September 2016. It was dubbed the ‘Community’ wedding by friends and locals. We walked to through the village to the church and some of the residences were out at the end of their driveways to wave to me and pass on their congratulations. It was so touching.

The Theme:

We had wild flowers and hops as our decorations which helped achieve the relaxed and laid back country wedding feel we were after.

Favourite Moment:

There were too many to count! All of the girls came up to the house where I got ready for a glass of bubbly and we all walked to the church as big group. It was a perfect start! Having our dog Goose present at the service and reception was also magical as he is such a huge part of our family life and the reception was perfectly relaxed and super good fun to boot!

The Shoes:

I wore Abbie shoes. They were so comfortable with a small heel which was perfect. The flower girls wore Abigail’s dyed to their individual outfit colours. Everyone commented on how special the girls looked with their matching shoes.

Advice for Brides to be:

If you can, accept help when it’s offered. It’s great to share the load with people who love you and they feel wonderful for being able to do something to contribute to your special day but most importantly enjoy it! In my experience it truly is the best day of your life.
