#InOurShoes - Zoe and Gary

22/04/2018 11:02

For this weeks #InOurShoes blog, we're taking a flight over to the Big Apple - NEW YORK!!

After being together for 12 years and married for 8, Zoe and Gary decided to renew their vows - their day was inspired by vintage glamor which tied in with their wedding venue (Grand Central Station) just perfectly.

Why did you decide on a vow renewal?

My husband has been in the Army for 14 years, we have been together for 12 years and married for 8. With all the separations due to his job, house moves and family stresses our relationship changed over the years, we had difficulties but we worked through them and have come out stronger. Gary is now in his last few months of the Army as he decided to leave to have a more stable home life with our 3 children. So we felt starting a brand new chapter of our marriage with the big changes we’ve had was an occasion that needed to be marked. -If you want to know more, just ask.

When and where did you renew your vows?

We renewed our vows at Grand Central Station in New York, it was amazing!

Did you have a specific theme or colour scheme?

We were aiming for classic New York glamour, taking us back to a different era. Gary got inspiration for his outfit from Peaky Blinders.

How did you feel when you said yes to the dress?

It was amazing! So hard to describe when you have an idea of how you want to look but no idea of how to do it! (Haha!). Brett and Bev at the Ivory Dressing Room, Blackpool made it a wonderful experience. They knew what I wanted before I did! When I put the dress on, it felt good but then when I saw it and my vision was a reality it could not have been more perfect! I was so excited and didn’t want to take it off!

How did you choose your shoes?

I tried Rainbow Club Astrid shoes on when I was choosing my dress and they were amazingly comfortable- I’m a comfort over fashion girl normally! They had the classic glamour look I wanted that went perfectly with my dress. I couldn’t resist the sparkle on these shoes! Even though they were a high heel, they were comfortable enough for me to walk through New York in them.

Where did you buy your Rainbow Club shoes from?

The Ivory Dressing Room, Lytham Road, Blackpool

What was the most favorite and memorable part of the day?

We wrote our own vows (actually my husband's idea!) and we didn’t share them before the day so it was wonderful to hear Gary’s vows and he also shared what he loved most about me. It just made it so intimate and special. I also loved walking through New York, both of us dressed in such a classic way surrounded by all the history of the city- magical!

Do you have any advice for brides to be?

Always be clear about exactly what you want when planning but on the day you just have to let off the little details and be present in the moment so you soak it all up!

Thank you so much Zoe and Gary for sharing your vow renewal with us, it looked like the most romantic day!
